About the Department
Welcome to the Valencia County Fire Department
We are an all hazard Fire Department that provides Fire Protection, Rescue, Emergency Medical Services (to the Advanced Life Support Level) and Special Operations.
The department has a total of 8 fire stations, staffed by a combination of career and volunteer members. The department runs close to 7000 calls a year. The Valencia County Fire Department consolidated from 4 fire districts, in to one fire department in 2023 to increase efficiency in response.
Our department is responsible for response to the unincorporated areas of Valencia County, but provides mutual aid to the municipalities of Los Lunas, Belen, Rio Communities, Peralta and Bosque Farms.
The Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Matt Propp.
