Mission Statement

The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide outstanding public services for the citizens of Valencia County, our visitors and our neighboring towns and villages while maintaining a superior infrastructure, guaranteeing a clean and safe environment as well as sustaining a high quality of life.

Responsibilities

The Valencia County Public Works Department is responsible for Tierra Bonita, Road Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Environmental Health, Building and Parks. This pivotal department works hand-in-hand with the Code Enforcement Division and GIS.

Public Works oversees and coordinates services including:

• Road Department – Maintenance and improvement of County-maintained roads, drainage, rights-of-way, and related transportation infrastructure.
• Fleet Maintenance – Maintenance and repair of County vehicles and equipment to support safe and reliable County operations.
• Building & Grounds / Parks & Recreation – Maintenance and improvement of County buildings, grounds, parks, recreational facilities,
  community spaces, and other County-owned properties.
• Solid Waste – Oversight and support of County solid waste services and facilities.
• Keep America Beautiful – Coordinates litter prevention and cleanup initiatives, recycling programs, and community beautification efforts
  throughout Valencia County. The program also supports local youth and adult recreational and athletic activities through available program funding.

Public Works also works closely with other County departments and divisions, including Code Enforcement and GIS, as well as local, state, and federal
agencies, to coordinate projects, address community needs, and support the continued improvement of Valencia County.
