About the District 1 Commissioner

Gerard Saiz
County Commission Chairman, District 1

I have served as County Commissioner since January 2019, following 19 years as a City Councilor for the Village of Los Lunas. As a lifelong resident, I am committed to representing and serving the community where I was raised.

I currently serve on the Boards of Directors for New Mexico Counties (NMC), the National Association of Counties (NACo), and the Mid-Region Council of Governments. I am a graduate of Los Lunas High School and attended New Mexico Highlands University. I worked as a licensed insurance agent for 30 years in our family-owned business and retired after 33 years of federal service.

I have been married to my wife, Anita, for 41 years, and we have three children. In my free time, I enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with family.
